Mekia Machine is a multidisciplinary visual and sound artist, painter and music composer, who’s performed both locally and internationally. She was born in Jamaica, migrated to the US as a child with her family, and grew up in Queens, NY.
Her art investigates the aesthetic and societal norms through conceptions of time, identity, the senses, memory, and place, specifically in cultures where loss is a substantial part of daily life and addresses the lived experience of conflict and trauma.
