About The Artist
Dave Boyd is a Bristol based artist who studied his MA at the Royal College of Art. Dave worked for the University of Bristol Library for almost 30 years, supporting History of Art, and digital services. During this time he continued to practice art on a part-time basis. In 2019 Dave retired from librarianship to focus fully on his practice and currently works from BV Studios, Bristol.
His artistic practice focuses on the juxtaposition between the manmade and natural, and the human experience of geometric forms, surfaces and materials. His practice embodies a built aesthetic and is strongly influenced by architecture and the built environment both urban and rural. Using and repurposing found and discarded materials such as books and cardboard packaging, Boyd’s work seeks to utilise and harness the subtle marks, age and history inherent in objects that have been used and handled over many years.
