"The inspiration for this series has come from a residency I carried out during the winter. I stayed in a bothy in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. Spending time immersed in nature, surrounded by forest, getting back to basics.
The bothy was off-grid and had no water supply. I noticed how my attitude shifted from the initial feeling that my hut was rudimentary and basic, to it giving me protection and shelter. It allowed me to be in this environment, which in turn allowed me to slow down, change my priorities and re-evaluate. I wanted to celebrate the bothy, often primitive buildings built in harsh environments".
